What Is Mud Conditioner
Simply Speaking, mud conditioner is a combination equipment of desander, desilter and Vibration screen. It is always used as the second and the third stage drilling mud cleaning equipment. The upper part of the mud conditioner is desander cone and desilter cone connected by pipeline system, also the pipeline worked as the frame structure. In our design, the size of the drilling mud inlet pipe is always 6″ while the outlet (also called overflow pipe) is 8″. The bottom part of the mud conditioner is a underflow shaker which we match 250 mesh fine screen on the shaker. Core Drilling is a main mode of exploration in mining industial like the seeking for copper, gold and silver. The main equipment of a core drilling is a diamond-tipped core drills. Core Drilling Cuttings

The treating capacity of the mud cleaner depends on the cyclone size and numbers. But usually if the cyclone numbers are more than 12pcs, we recommend to use a large treating capacity underflow shaker, otherwise, the treating capacity of shaker will not meet hydrocyclone, “overflow” will happen.

A mud cleaner is a combination of desanders and/or desilters mounted over a shaker with a fine mesh screen. A mud is fed to the inlet of the hydrocyclone (desander and/or desilter) to separate particles and the underflow passes to the fine screen mesh where in particles larger than barite are discarded and thrown away. In most drilling operations, a mud cleaner is installed in its mud systems. It is usually located in a mud tank in the same location as with the desilters.
Purpose
The purpose of the mud cleaner is to remove drilled solids larger than barite. Solids larger than 74-105 micrometres can be removed by the mud cleaner before the viscosity builds up.

There are two kinds of mud system (solids control system), closed loop mud system and Reserve pit ( not closed loop mud system) .
GN can design both Closed loop mud system and reserve pit mud system. For closed loop mud system, it is usually used for oil or gas well drilling, the drilling mud flowed from high-pressure mud flow line pipe, and reserve pit mud system is usually for Directional drilling, and the drilling mud is pumped by a submersible slurry pump. But no matter what kind of mud system, you should always remember “material balance”, the mud feeded should be finally balance with the solids disposed.

The risk factors of Reserve pits include leakage through overflow, personal injury, wildlife impact, and area exposure. The costs associated with pits include excavation, lining, increased location size, solid waste, and either burying or removal of solid waste.
Compared with reserve pits, closed loop mud system can avoid such risk factors and cost reduced. Closed-loop systems employ a suite of solids control equipment to minimize drilling fluid dilution and provide the economic handling of the drilling wastes. A typical closed-loop system includes linear motion shale shaker, mud cleaner and centrifuges followed by a dewatering system. The combination of equipment typically results in a “dry” location where a reserve pit is not required, used fluids are recycled, and solid wastes can be land farmed, hauled off or injected down hole.
There is a general misconception that a closed loop mud system is more expensive than a conventional pit program. Given the correct circumstances a closed loop system could be much less expensive. Factors that influence the cost are, depth of well, size of hole, length of drilling time, and of course the proximity to a disposal facility.

Every year drilling company pay huge money for drilling mud, and related law about evvironment protection from drilling mud haven issued by more and more countries. Drilling mud cleaning equipments become more and more important for well drilling .

The mud cleaner is combination of desander and desilter, desander is composed of 8 inch/ 10 inch/12inch hydrocyclones with 1.0m2 screen area shaker. Desilter is composed of 4 inch polyurethane cyclones with 1.0m2 screen area shaker. Desander cone of polyurethane or cast iron material is available. Polyurethane ( PU) cone is a kind of super wear-resistant materials.
During drilling, cuttings are obviously created, but they do not usually pose a problem until drilling stops because a drillbit requires replacement or another problem. When this happens, and drilling mud are not used, the cuttings then fill the hole again. Drilling mud are used as a suspension tool to keep this from happening. The viscosity of the drilling mud increases when movement decreases, allowing the fluid to have a liquid consistency when drilling is occurring and then turn into a more solid substance when drilling has stopped. Cuttings are then suspended in the well until the drill is again inserted. This gel-like substance then transforms again into a liquid when drilling starts back up.
